I saw INXS when I was in high school. This sounds so shallow, but I was mezmerized by Michael's hair. The way he would flip it around like a great mane. Isn't it always the case, men having better hair then the girls who admire them! I have replaced more than one INXS record, tape, now CDs...than I can count...

Rest in Peace

I have listened to the voice of Michael Hutchence since I was a kid, I miss what he may have brought to music in this (contemporary) time, his ideas, his style, and his undeniable charisma. I am glad to have shared his visionary insight with the rest of the world through his music, and the band, thanks for an amazing time, MS

Guys: I first came across your material in a hippies' record store in 1981 in the suburbs of Chicago and the vibe and rhythm was/is amazing. I can say for me personally, your music has and continues to make my heart dance....

hi all connected with michael and inxs
i loved this guy and the band in the 80s when i lived in qld, i now remain an emotional devotee in tassie 22 years or so later. i admire and respect the eternal search for a replacement lead singer for michael, however, i dont think the magical talent of this guy can be replaced. no offence intended to those people who contend. i do however wonder whether through digital tech, michaels voice could be synthesised or imitated from previous recordings of albums etc.
farriss/pengilly etc have ability to write inxs music as we expect, respect, know and love. could this be possible? i would love to hear and see this band continue through the decades as it should have as they are an aussie icon of global recognition which millions, including myself have loved, admired and held deep in our hearts. warmest thoughts to all of you
regards, rosie

My best Michael Hutchence memory comes from personal experience: back when I was just a dumb-fearless kid in high sschool, i actually jumped across a 6 foot orchestra pit to get onstage with INXS (a concert they were performing in my hometown of San Antonio, Texas). I was inspired so much by his incredible singing that I wanted to sing up on stage with him. The best thing about it was that I actually did (I put my left arm around him like he was my best friend and with my right hand I held onto the mike along with Michael... for a few seconds: “Don't Change A Thing, For M-- ughhhhk!” just then some guy twice my size grabbed me from behind and jerked me off-stage and outside the theatre. I didn't get to sneak my way back in until halfway thru Adam and the Ants - (INXS opened for them) But I didn't care, as far as I was concerned I had the best seat in the house with the best rock singer in the world - It was exhillirating! Thanks for putting up this web site and allowing everyday fans like myself to share their memories and experiences amd great feelings associated with Michael Hutchence and INXS. He is sorely missed.

The first concert I ever went to was INXS. Watching Michael onstage, I was instantly hooked. It makes me so sad when I think of how early this world lost him. Michael, you were truly loved by so many people. We miss you, and you are always in our hearts. May you now have the peace you so desired in your life.

I am saddened that I had forgotten what a talented band INXS was and how much they contributed to the scene back in the 80's. I was not a huge fan, but the music still affected my daily life back then. I will always be confused about how the most talented people in the world can be so tormented within them selves. I hope you found your peace Michael. Thanks for the memories of great times in my past.

Seeing the band on TV reminds us all of how talented you were and how much your talents made INXS what it was back then. RIP!

Michael is surely missed by all INXS fans. I've been a fan since I was given the KICK album way back. Since then I have purchased every album ever produced by INXS. I've loyally been watching the Rockstar: INXS show to see who the band will front the band, no matter who they pick they will never replace Michael.

Good luck in the future, and even though it won't be the same I will remain a loyal INXS fan and keep purchasing albums as long as they are produced.

Have been going through an INXS phase lately - have listened to the Greatest Hits CD (1994) quite a few times in the last few days. I'm not an “obsessed” fan (not that I think a healthy obsession is a bad thing hehe), but I had a lot of respect for the band and the music they created.

It's really haunting to hear the songs on that CD now, especially one of my all time favourites, “Never Tear Us Apart”, which always manages to give me goosebumps - even more so in the years since Michael's passing (still can't believe it's nearly 8 years! - I remember the day like yesterday).

Thinking of you Michael... Love and peace always.

8 years after Michaels death I am just learning of this special human being. I have learned of Michael after doing reasearch into why INXS needed a singer. I am sad to hear of another great singer songwriter that has taken his own life. I have seen this in Seattle a couple times with Layne Staley and Curt Cobain. My heart goes out to those who loved and still miss Michael. I would like to know why the people that bring such joy to the world can not find peace within themselves. Maybe thats just how it is, you leave nothing for yourself and give it all away. It doesnt seen fair.
Rest in Peace Michael.

This is a beautiful memorial site. Michael can never be replaced. I want to thank INXS for continuing to play their wondeful music and for going forward - this is the best way to keep Michael alive! And, Rockstar:INXS is a wonderful way to let the world remember Michael and the wonderful music you all made together!
